Penne d’Agenais is a small town of a little more
than 2000 inhabitants, with the strengthened medieval
borough (XIIIème century). The many vestiges present
at Penne will make you cross the history of the city
time after time: doors of the enclosing wall, old residences
of merchants, the royal prison, two remaining chapels
of the church of XIIIème century, remainders of
the castle of Roy etc.
You will be able to also benefit from the landscape while
leaving to do one of the excursions suggested by the
tourist information centre. You will discover the lake
of Penne, the plates limestones and will have a splendid
sight on the valley of the lot.
But Penne d’Agenais is especially a town of craft
industry of art. The art galleries flower at the four
corners of the commune and await you to make you discover
their treasures. You will find painting decorative, « trompe-l’œil »,
in imitation wood or marble; woodcarving exotic; glassmaking
of art; weaving; pottery; leather working; watercolour;
ironwork; dinanderie (objects out of cast brass)...
