Go cruising on the Venice Lagoon and enjoy
some of Europe's finest
monuments and landscapes.
From sleeps villages to
historic towns, from island
to islet to the furtherst
reaches of the lagoon,
when you're cruising aboard
a Penichette Venice's surroundings
display untouched landscapes
and picturesque villages.
Separatted from the sea
by a narrow coastal strip,
the lagoon reveas itself
straight away in all its
immensity. Chioggia with
its amazing fishmarket
is a delightful little
town, linked by bridges
to the mainland, and the
southern gateway to the
lagoon. You follow the
buoyed channels to the
yellow and ochre houses
of the traditional fishing
villages of Pellestrina.
Beyond the Malamocco opening
to the sea, you set course
for Venice. the Campanile
and the Piazza San Marco
gradually appear over the
horizon; arriving in Venice
by water gives fantastic
viexs across to the greatest
glories of the Serenissima,
the Doges' Palace and the
Basilica. You continue northwards along a necklace
of romantic islands: Murano
with its glass workshops,
Burano with its quaint
leaning tower, an island
of lacemakers where on
stalls in the charming
Via Galuppi you can purchase
their hindicrafts, and
on to Torcello with its
ancient monuments.Once
you have cruised to your
fill amongs these enchanting
islands, where the gaily
painted facades og the
quayside houses form a
picture in their own right,
you can extend your cruise
up to the canalised River
Brenta. Enjoy its verdant
banks, delightful countryside
and sun-dappled vineyards.
Far in the north eastern
lagoons, Marano, remote
and unspoilt, is at the
furthest northern reaches
of the Adriatic. Its ancient
township, surrounded by
marsh and forest, is still
home to a fishing community. to
a fishing community.
