Swiss Travel System 2005
 
Valid from 01 January 2005 to 31 December 2005

Scenic lakes, Alpine villages, and mountain forests are just a few of the natural beauties you'll find in Switzerland. The Swiss Travel System is incredibly comprehensive and includes rail, lake steamers and city transportation lines. And you'll want to take advantage of all these to journey through the Alps, St. Moritz, Lugano, Zermatt and more. Rail Europe has put together a number of exciting options to make sure you get the most out of your vacation.

INCLUDES:

- Unlimited travel on the Swiss Travel System (train, bus and boat).
- Valid on the public transport systems of 35 Swiss cities.

Choice of 1st class or 2nd class.
- Saverpass for 2 adults or more travelling together at all times.
- Youth: under 26yrs.
- Free Swiss Family Card: children 6 – 15yrs inclusive travel free on Swiss Travel System products if accompanied by their parents.

BONUS OFFERS:

- Access to scenic trains (Bernina Express, Glacier Express, Golden Pass, William Tell Express). Reservations are compulsory and fees vary by train.
- Special passholder fares on TrainHotel Elipsos connecting Switzerland and Spain (Zurich-Barcelona). Valid only with a Swiss Pass or Swiss Flexipass. Not valid with the Swiss Card or Swiss Transfer ticket.
- Special passholder fares on Lyria (France-Switzerland TGV) and Geneve Med. Valid with a Swiss Pass or Swiss Flexipass. Not valid with the Swiss Card or Swiss Transfer ticket.
- Special passholder fares on CityNightLine (from/to Switzerland routes). Valid with a Swiss Pass or Swiss Flexipass. Not valid with the Swiss Card or Swiss Transfer ticket.

Note: Passholder Fares – passes must be validated prior to boarding the first train and travel must be completed by midnight on the last day of validity of the pass. On some trains, a Passholder Fare may necessitate the use of a travel day on the pass.

- Special free or discounted travel bonuses: for a full list, pls refer to Swiss Travel System maps issued with the pass. Bonus partners and applicable discounts include:

- Mountain Railways – cable cars and mountain trains not included in the Swiss Travel System range of passes offer a 25% discount (must be booked locally – Swiss Card holders receive a 50% reduction. No discount for Swiss Transfer tickets). Please refer to the STS map.
- Rent-a-bike – 4000 bikes for rent at 150 railway stations. Reduced rates for full or half day rentals.

- Rent-a-ski – approx. 10% discount on ski and other winter equipment rentals.
- Basel – 20% discount on the “Basel Card”.
- Bern – 20% discount on a guided walking tour through the old town/ clock tower or guided city bus tours.
- Lausanne – 20% discount on guided city tours.
- Schaffhausen – 20% discount on guided city tour.
- Sion – 20% discount on guided city tour.
- Zuerich – 50% discount on guided city walking tours.
- Gubelin – 8% discount on all watches and jewellery.
- RailAway – various discounts on exhibitions, musicals, museums and events. Bookings can be mad at major railway stations in Switzerland.

CONDITIONS OF USE:

- Residents of Switzerland & Liechtenstein are not eligible to purchase or use a Swiss Travel System product.
- Passes must be validated prior to boarding the first train / first use of a travel bonus.

Passes must be validated within 6 months of issuing date by a railway official in Switzerland.
-
All parties must be present when validating a Saverpass.
-
Reservation fees are an additional charge and not inclusive in the cost of the pass.

All passes are subject to a non-refundable Pass Issuance Fee of AUD10 per pass.

SWISS PASS 2005:

Validity: 4, 8, 15, 22 days or 1 month.
- Consecutive days travel
- 1st class or 2nd class
- Swiss Saverpass: for 2 or more people travelling together at all times
- Youth age: under 26yrs.
- Children under 16yrs (unlimited number): free with a Swiss Family Card. Must travel with a parent.
- Children 6 –15yrs inclusive: half the adult fare when travelling without a parent
- Children under 6yrs: free if sharing a paying passenger’s seat/ bed
- Special travel bonuses

SWISS FLEXIPASS:

- Validity: any 3, 4, 5 ,6 or 8 days in a 1 month period
- Travel days may be used consecutively or non-consecutively
- 1st class or 2nd class
- Swiss Saver Flexipass: for 2 or more people travelling together at all times
- Children under 16yrs (unlimited number): free with a Swiss Family Card. Must travel with a parent.
- Children 6 – 15yrs inclusive: half the adult fare when travelling without a parent
- Children under 6yrs: free if sharing a paying passenger’s seat/ bed
- Special travel bonuses

SWISS CARD:

- Good for one inbound rail journey from any Swiss airport or border station to any single destination in Switzerland and for an outbound journey from any single destination in Switzerland to any Swiss airport or border station.
- Each journey to and from the airport or border point must be completed in a calendar day. Stopovers are permitted during the journey.
- The ticket is valid on the most direct route and cannot be used on the Glacier Express Line.

The Swiss Card allows 50% discounts on all Swiss railways, lake steamers, postal buses and on excursions to most mountain tops. Note: Once the Swiss Card has expired, cardholders will no longer be entitled to any discounts or services.

- Validity: 1 month.

SWISS TRANSFER TICKET:

- Good for one inbound rail journey from any Swiss airport or border station to any single destination in Switzerland and for an outbound journey from any single destination in Switzerland to any Swiss Airport or border station.
- Each journey to and from the airport or border point must be completed in a calendar day. Stopovers are permitted during the journey.
- The ticket is valid on the most direct route and cannot be used on the Glacier Express Line.
- Validity: 1 month
- 1st or 2nd class


FREE SWISS FAMILY CARD:

For families travelling together, the free Swiss Family Card allows children under 16 years to travel free of charge when accompanied by a parent (including step and foster parents). Excludes reservation fees.

Valid with all Swiss products (Swiss Pass, Swiss Flexipass, Swiss Saverpass, Swiss Saver Flexipass, Swiss Transfer Ticket and Swiss Card).
